Serra will celebrate the 17th Fira de la Calderona- 51 Dia de la Cirera on the 3rd and 4th of June. The town nestled in the heart of the Sierra Calderona is preparing to welcome a large number of visitors to a fair that was declared a festival of regional tourist interest in the Valencian Community last year by the Generalitat Valenciana.
In the words of the mayoress, Alicia Tusón: “The Fira de la Calderona-Dia de la Cirera is one of the best projections we have for Serra as a destination for nature and cultural tourism. It is a festival in which the whole town gets involved to show the best of what we have to offer”.
The Fira de la Calderona is the great showcase of the tourist, gastronomic and commercial offer of the town of Serra, located in the heart of the Sierra Calderona. The Dia de la Cirera was born to promote the most typical product of Serra, the cherry. A product that has been losing weight as a result of the abandonment of the traditional trades of the sierra and that has evolved to become part of the fira.
The Fira de la Calderona also wants to show the environmental and cultural values of the mountain range and the tourist potential of all the villages that make up the Calderona territory and that also have the opportunity to be present at the fair to present all its attractions. Three regions, Camp de Túria, Camp de Morvedre and Alt Palància, between the provinces of Valencia and Castelló, under the umbrella of the territory that makes up the Sierra Calderona.
The City Council is finalising the programme for the Fira de la Calderona. A very complete programme that includes a market of local and artisan products, performances and guided tours, musical performances, parades, workshops of traditional trades, dolçainers i tabaleters meeting and that has as its central act the distribution of cherries for the people who visit the town on Sunday 4.
