Serra welcomes the presentation of the congress on the 750 years of the Carthusian monastery of Portaceli
The Casa de la Cultura of Serra has hosted the official presentation of the congress “La Cartuja de Portaceli (1272-2022), vuit segles de testimoni” to be held at the Faculty of Geography and History of the University of Valencia under the sponsorship of the Diputación de València. The congress to be held from 10 to 12 November will bring together in Valencia the world’s leading experts on the Carthusian monastery of Portaceli.
The presentation of the congress that commemorates the 750 years of the dean of the Iberian Carthusian monasteries and the only institution that together with the cathedral of Valencia remains for the purpose for which they were conceived since the time of James I was attended by the mayor of Serra, Alicia Tusón and the organizing committee of the academic event, Albert Ferrer, Josep-Marí Gómez and Francisco Fuster.
The mayoress expressed her “pride” in hosting this presentation because of “the historical link of the Portaceli Charterhouse to the people of Serra.” The event featured three informative lectures on the Valencian Carthusian monasteries: Portaceli (Serra), by Franscico Fuster; Valldecrist (Altura) by Josep-Marí Gómez and Aracriti (El Puig) by Albert Ferrer.
The presentation ended with the distinction to the three organizers of the congress with a “socarrat” representing the Torre del Señor de la Vila, which together with the rest of the towers and the Castell de Serra formed part of the defensive system of the north of Valencia.
