Serra is the most beautiful village in the Valencian Community after winning the contest organized by the app España Turismo. The municipality, nestled in the heart of the Sierra Calderona, has obtained the vote of 4644 people who have made it the winner of this contest, 304 votes more than the one that has been in second position.
The town will now move on to the national phase of the contest along with Ayora, Cervera del Maestre and Ademuz that have been in second, third and fourth place in a contest in which 30 towns of the Valencian Community competed. The more than 18,000 people who have voted have done so through the España Turismo application.
“We are congratulated, Serra has won this contest and we are the most beautiful village in the Valencian Community. Thanks to all the people for your votes” says the mayor, Alicia Tusón. “This recognition encourages us to continue working to publicize, promote and position our people as a tourist town inland. We are on the right track.”
In the selection process has been valued not only the presence of outstanding elements in the ancient nuclei of the chosen localities, but also the peculiarity of the natural environment surrounding the aspiring villages. The town of Serra is located in the center of the natural park of the Sierra Calderona in an incomparable natural environment and with a cultural and monumental legacy such as the castle and the four watchtowers, two in the town center and the Carthusian monastery of Portaceli, all of them assets of cultural interest.
