Serra will host from 21 to 23 October the first gastronomic days: pumpkin tradition and innovation in which 6 restaurants and 3 stores in the municipality will participate. The conference will close with the first popular contest of Olla amb carabassa Vicente Granero Vila de Serra to promote among the population the recovery of this traditional dish of the town’s cuisine.
Some days that want to put in value a characteristic and differential resource of the local gastronomy that has its maximum expression in the Olla amb carabassa. These first days will be sponsored by the chef Jordi Morera, from the program la Cocina de Morera, from À Punt television.
The participation of local businesses is essential so that during these days stores and restaurants will offer in their menus or in their offer products where the pumpkin will be the protagonist. The participating companies are Horno San Joaquín, Carnes Aliaga, and Ecospirulia. In addition, six restaurants will offer menus or dishes with pumpkin: Restaurante Casa Granero, Restaurante Chaparral, Bar Restaurante Descanso, Restaurante La Garrofera, Restaurante San Antonio and Cervecería Porta Coeli.
The mayor of Serra, Alicia Tusón, stresses that “Serra is working to boost consumption in their businesses involving entrepreneurship, local people and people who visit us, offering unique and authentic experiences, which put in value our cultural heritage in the full extent of the word.” The days will close with the celebration of the I popular contest of olla amb carabassa. “This year we want to encourage the recovery of this dish among the local population. Other years the contest has been professional but we want families to recover at home this dish so much ours” adds the mayoress.
The popular contest of Olla amb Carabassa Vicente Granero Vila de Serra will take place on October 29 in the Plaza S.M. La Primitiva. In the afternoon there will also be a pumpkin decorating contest, ending the evening with a tasting of products from the companies participating in these first gastronomic days.
These first days are born in the heat of the tourism positioning project in which the City Council of Serra has been working since last year to strengthen tourism businesses and stores in this town nestled in the heart of the Sierra Calderona.
