Serra will host the I Calderona Chamber Music Festival from July 15 to 31.
For 15 days the town, nestled in the heart of the Sierra Calderona, will become the capital of chamber music that will bring together the best figures of the chamber music scene both internationally and nationally and regionally. In total, almost 40 musicians will offer 7 major concerts, educational concerts, master classes and two musical exhibitions.
The streets and squares of Serra and the church of the Virgen de los Ángeles will be the venues for the seven concerts in which chamber music will be the common thread. A music represented in a multitude of styles ranging from jazz to baroque, Mediterranean folk and Latin and American folk with works by Johanes Brams, Clara Shumann, Maurice Ravel, Joseph Haydin, Matilde Salvador or Beethoven, under the artistic direction of Salvador Bolón, Valencian musician, member of the Orquesta de la Comunitat Valenciana- Palau de les Arts and linked to the municipality of Serra.
In addition, a fundamental part of the festival is its educational and participatory essence. Thus, members of the local brass bands will be able to attend the various chamber music master classes that have been scheduled for three days. At the same time, educational concerts will be offered for children attending the Summer School. Two exhibitions set to music will close the first part of the festival, which will conclude on July 31 with a chamber orchestra concert featuring the French violinist Philipp Grafin.
“We are committed to music and culture with this great festival that is born with the desire to stay with us and be a benchmark for chamber music” says the mayor of Serra, Alicia Tusón. For his part, the Councillor for Cultural Promotion, Borja Martinez, adds “we have worked to offer a varied repertoire with leading figures of the chamber music scene around seven major concerts. Some concerts that want to reach all audiences and that will fill our town with music during these fifteen days.”
“The festival will feature world-class artists who endorse their international career,” says Salvador Bolon, artistic director of the festival.
